With the spring period fast approaching and traditionally being the busiest time of the year for the housing market, local estate agency Allen & Harris is encouraging homeowners to get their properties in order now and make the most of this seasonal surge.
Recent data from the UK’s biggest property website, Rightmove, reveals that March is the strongest month of the year for prospective sellers to come to market*. The market is already gaining momentum with new listings up 11%, and buyer demand up 32% over the last three weeks compared to the same time last year**. Also, with the warmer weather approaching, searches for gardens have jumped 70% in two years, as people continue to look for more outdoor space following the pandemic.
“Spring, for many years, has always been the best time to sell a property ahead of the summer months”, says David Plumtree, Group Estate Agency Chief Executive of Jones & Chapman parent company Connells Group. “The longer and lighter days can inspire buyers to move home, especially with specific requests for larger gardens which are a higher priority as we approach the summer.”
“In order to take advantage of the heightened buyer interest and the possibility of increased viewings, it is important that sellers get their homes on the market and ensure that they are looking their best, inside and out,” continues David. “This will help when it comes to making a good first impression, attracting more buyers and getting the best price possible on your house sale. We are urging anyone who is thinking of selling their property to get in touch with us and see how we can help ensure maximum exposure over this busy period.”
